Chuck Close was the inspiration for this self portrait. Students were to use analogous colors for their skin, hair and shirt. Complimentary colors were used for the background.
5th graders learned about Cubism and artists Juan Gris and Pablo Picasso. We worked on using warm, cool and neutral colors. For the background we outlined the shapes with oil pastels and used watercolor paint to fill in the shapes for a resist painting. The still life was colored in with oil pastels.
